Architecture has been around for quite some time. Many and different styles has been made, and modified to adapt to the ways of human living. There are also some architecture that transforms because of time and the technology that has been changing from time to time.

To demonstrate the technology that has been around throughout the time, the United Architects of the Philippines – Student Auxiliary – University of Santo Tomas (UAPSA-UST) Chapter presented this year’s National Architecture Week (NAW) with the theme, Technological Revival. UAPSA-UST celebrated NAW last November 17-26, 2011, a two-week celebration, to make way for the college’s NAAB Accreditation.

The celebration of National Architecture Week is not entirely an event full of competitions. For this year, NAW did not only have competitions, there was also a NAW Exhibit, wherein the participants of NAW Competitions were exhibited and a special talk given to students to add additional information regarding their studies.

In the first week celebration of NAW, 3 competitions for 3 consecutive days were held. On the first day of NAW, November 17th, Rendering Competition was held in the Main Building from 12pm – 5pm. On the second day, Structural Competition was held in Room 807 in Beato Angelico Bldg., also from 12pm-5pm and on the third day, the last day for the week, Design Competitions were up in Room 707 in Beato Angelico Bldg., from 7am – 12pm. Entries for Photography, T-Shirt Design and Innovative Design were due last November 19, 2011.

The second week celebration was more intense as the events of NAW were more competitive and more exciting. On the 24th of November, the NAW Exhibit was officially opened in Beato Angelico Gallery and there had a short talk was given by Microcadd about Computer Aided Design and Rendering. In-line with the CAD talk, the next day was the CAD Competition held also in the Gallery. For the last day of NAW, the 26th of November, it was the anticipated of all, Le Biomorphic Fashion Show and Awards Night.

The Fashion Show is the highlight of the chapter’s National Architecture Week. During the Le Biomorphic Fashion Show, the models first flaunted their clothes made out of recycled materials, inspired from animals and insects, letting the people see the sketches comes to life. After ramping the designed clothes was the awarding of the different competitions held during the week-long celebration, also including the winners of the fashion show.

UAPSA-UST 2011 National Architecture Week: Technological Revival was another successful event, catering students educational and competitive activities through commemorating the importance of Architecture.
